Relay for Life 2009 Report

Thanks to all who supported the CGC 2009 Relay for Life Team. We raised $1640! A very special thanks to Troy Willis for raising over $1000. Dean Thornton provided lights and hot Jittery Joe's coffee--a great place to hang out between laps. Thanks, Dean. It was hot and humid when we showed up around 4pm. Dave was setting up his camper. Then, the storm came through. Check out this video taken from inside the van. This short storm caused quite a bit of damage to some of the sites. Dave's camper escaped injury. We waited around for the weather to clear. It never really did. There were rumors of additional storms, but we were lucky. Several additional riders showed up but didn't stay because of the weather. The opening ceremony finally started sometime after 7pm and we started our first lap around 7:30. The sky was ugly and it was sprinkling but we decided to chance it. We didn't have any problems. It remained cloudy with the occasional sprinkle throughout the night. There was some early morning fog around 2 am, but the overall temperature was great. We had fun!
Congrats to Zach (10 yrs old) for completing 43 miles--2 miles over his goal and 12 miles more than last year! Congrats to Dustin and Troy for completing a century!
Congrats to Jon for completing a metric century!
Congrats to me for staying up past midnight! Yours truly--Jean

I am joining people around the world in celebrating those who have survived cancer, remembering the people we've lost, and supporting the lifesaving mission of the American Cancer Society. Our Team Will Be Riding Bicycles All Night Around the Fair Grounds.

Please make a donation to me or join my team. You are helping deliver the hope that future generations will not have to endure cancer threatening the lives of their friends and family. You have the power to fight back against a disease that affects millions.

Every Little Bit Helps. No Matter What the size of the Donation It's going to Help Find A Cure.

Please consider a luminary to honor someone in your life affected by cancer. Thank You For your Donations,
