WR Adopt a Highway Program

I've contacted the "Keep Warner Robins Beautiful" group about their "Adopt a Highway Program". I asked about our club having 1 mile on the new Russell Parkway extension along the new Bike Lanes (either from Houston Lake Blvd or Hwy 41). Since folks are using those bike lanes, I think we should help keep it safe for riders.

If we do sign up, they will put up one of those signs with our name on it (our name on one of the busiest roads in town). They say the new extension is available so what I need to know, "can I count on volunteers to help do this once a quarter"?

The new CGC Website

Welcome to the 'new' CGC website.

Sorry about the lack of recent updates; back in Feburary my laptop crashed and it had the source code for the site and web development software (MS Frontpage). Since the laptop was a company 'hand-me down', I didn't have the original disks and I wasn't interested in purchasing Frontpage on my own. So, I've spent the last month rewriting the website by hand. It wasn't progressing well.

In one of those "moments of inspiration"; I decided what I really wanted here was something as easy to use as my blog. So I threw out everything I had done up to that point and decided to rewrite this with the Google Blogger.

Here's some of the reasons I decided to go this route. The biggest issue is the development software. Whoever takes over this site, must have a copy of the source and the development software. Google's blogger tool set is freely available to anyone and because it's Google, we now have some of the brightest web developers working for us (for free). Google will handle all the user management, the comments, the posts, the pictures, the databases. With this easy to use tool set, we now can setup multiple moderators, use RSS site feeds, allow the members to upload photos; and all of this through the Google Blogger interface.

What do you think?

Look around and let me know what you think. Tell me where the spelling errors are, tell me which links are broken and what may be missing. Late night sessions and beer do not help quality control and usability testing.

We're now in Second place!

Way to go folks!

We've been steadily moving up all month and this weekend we finally moved into second place on www.bikejournal.com. We now the second highest total mileage in the State of Georgia and mileage-wise; and we're not that far from first place (who has almost twice as many members).
