CGC Officers

Welcome!

On behalf of the Central Georgia Cyclists membership, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the club. The strength of any organization is in the commitment of the member, and your contribution will help us improve the Central Georgia cycling community. We value your support; we respect your opinions and look forward to your friendship for a long time to come.

Central Georgia Cyclists (CGC) is a non-profit organization open to all members of the community who wish to enjoy cycling for recreation and fitness. Our members are adults of all ages and with a variety of backgrounds. Some of us ride year-round, while others of us are more laid-back about cycling. We enjoy riding together, socializing with each other, making new friends, and seeing new places. People, food, and scenery are high in our priorities.

The club provides organized group rides for road enthusiast and mountain bikers throughout the year. The club is most active during the months when daylight savings time is observed (March to October); however, rarely does a weekend go by without at least one posted ride scheduled. These group rides can and do vary in length and in the level of ability required, and we will make every attempt to provide rides for the novice, recreational and expert riders. The goal of every ride is to promote safe riding and to encourage camaraderie and friendships. All cyclists in the club should obey the Georgia Motor Vehicle Laws, abide by the IMBA “rules of the trail” and respect their fellow riders.

This year and in the future, CGC intends to become more involved in our community to promote bicycle safety and awareness issues. Central Georgia Cyclists will actively support local initiatives that encourage and promote safe use of bicycles in our area. We will promote cycling as an alternative method of transportation when appropriate, given present environmental concerns, traffic congestion and concerns about the fitness of citizens. Our hope is to raise the awareness of citizens to the benefits of cycling and to recognize cyclists as an integral part of the community.

We hope we can provide you with a valuable service, namely friendship with a diverse group of bicycle riders. All we ask for in return is a warm smile, a kind word, and enthusiasm to grow Central Georgia Cyclists into the kind of club you want it to be.

Sincerely,

Dave Sexton
President, Central Georgia Cyclists
