CGC May Minutes

a. Attendees sign in
6. Solicitation for comments on April 2009 Meeting Minutes
7. Open issues
a. Relay for Life – Reminder Relay starts on May 15th. Setup around noon at the south entrance.
i. We do five-mile loops around the Perry Ag Center from Friday evening through Saturday morning. There is always someone to ride with. Need headlights and taillights on your bikes.
ii. Current status
1. Seven people have signed up
2. We have raised $1025 so far. Our goal was $1,000. Special thanks to Todd Willis who has raised $775.
3. Will post map on CGC website
b. Monthly Meeting Reminder – Next meeting 6/6/09 @ 9:00 am. Proposed to have it at Jittery Joe’s in Macon in conjunction with an urban ride. No complaints were made.
c. Weekly Rides
i. Ride Start Time Change –
1. Ride starts change to 6pm on 4 May. Leave weekend ride starts at 9am for now.
2. Agreed to continue the Rolling to Roberta ride.
d. Monday Night Ladies Ride – The Bike Store WR agreed to hold a beginner’s maintenance clinic for ladies on May 18, with a short ride to follow. The clinic will start at 6 pm.
e. Business Cards – Finalized business card design and ordered 1000 cards.
f. Jerseys -
i. Voted on design, Dave has to finalize some details about the stripes before ordering.
ii. Established how to pay. It was decided that all orders will be made payable to the Club, and the Club will in turn purchase the Jerseys. Order deadline is TBD.
g. Adopt-a-Road – Adopted Russell Parkway between Lake Joy and Hwy 41. Picked up 13 bags of litter on Apr. 26. Seven participants earned 2 hours. Next pick up will be in Aug. Start recording our volunteer hours based on the honor system to an excel spreadsheet to be posted online.

a. Upcoming Events
i. May 9 – Storck Event at The Bike Store
ii. May 11 -15 – Bike to Work Week – Weekly Challenge for National Fitness Month Fit-opoly game at Robins
iii. May 17 – The Bike Store Century
iv. May 18 – Ladies Maintenance Clinic and Ride-Coincide with beginners ride @6:00PM.
v. Jun. 6 - 13 – BRAG, Hiawassee
vi. Jun. 27 –Cartersville Century, Cartersville
b. Bake Sale – Proposed to have one at The Bike Store from 10:00 am to 1:00pm during the Storck event on May 9.
c. Ice Cream Social – Tentatively scheduled for July

9. Additional Comments and Questions:
a. Need to come up with more incentives for membership.
b. Proposed to have a friendly competition to increase our volunteer hours. The top three will be entered into a raffle ticket drawing for a prize TBD.
c. Jean proposed to have a Bike Rodeo at the park off of Kimberly drive.
