Hot Tickets For Late Summer

Here's the highlights of the last meeting! (yeah, I know, I've been busy - D.)

BECOME A CHARTER MEMBER
Support the club in the quest to become a recognized nonprofit. We will be offering special Charter Memberships until October 31, 2008. The membership will cost $50 per person. Charter members will receive a unique membership card and will be entered in a raffle for LH Thomson swag generously donated by David Parrett of the LH Thomson company. Further discounts or prizes may also be up for grabs - watch for future updates. Contact BK Taylor or David Sexton to become a Charter Member.

"SHIFTING GEAR" SWAP MEET
Clean out your old parts box and DONATE! We will collect used parts that you no longer need and have a used parts swap meet. There will be donation boxes at both Bike Store locations and Bike Tech. We will be collecting parts until the end of September, so start rounding up stuff now. If you have something with loose parts (like a cassette,) please put them in a zip lock bag. Please only donate usable equipment.
Once we get all the parts in, we will have the sale. The sale will be on the honor system. When you find something you need, pay what you think it's worth. Nothing will be pre-priced. If two people want to try and outbid each other, we will certainly let them, but this isn't an auction in general.
Any parts that are not sold will be donated to the Bear Bikes commuter bike program at Mercer University in Macon.
We will be targeting the sale for Mid-October, so watch the yahoo forum for discussion on the best date.

UPCOMING EVENTS

SATURDAY AUG 23 - CUB SCOUT BIKE RODEO - 10AM - 1PM ROZAR PARK, PERRY
we have been invited to speak and or demonstrate at the cub scouts bike rodeo in Perry. I'd like to have 5-6 people on road bikes to demonstrate a pace line, as well as a couple people with mountain bikes to demo slow riding before the kids snail race. A couple people with recumbants would be cool, too. Remember, emphasis is on safety, but we're the entertainment. Email me if you're interested and can attend.

OCTOBER 4 - ANDERSONVILLE DAYS HISTORIC PARADE
We have also been invited to ride in the andersonville days parade. I think it would be great for some people to ride down and then ride in the parade. We will also be carpooling down for those who aren't comfortable with the distance. Email me if interested, we'll form a plan a little closer to time.

UPCOMING RIDES

Plans for a bike shuttle to the children's home is in the works, so check in at the Bike Store in WR for registration forms and other info.
